I Learned to Fly

The first time that I spread my wings,
I wasn’t sure at first.
Uncertain of so many things,
I simply feared the worst.

What if my Master let me fall
And didn’t catch me then;
Ignoring every desperate call?
My life would surely end.

But all those fearful thoughts were lies,
Not one of them was true,
For when I finally closed my eyes,
I spread my wings and flew.

This act is what our faith can be,
Our own adventurous flight.
For we trust not in what we see,
And we walk not by sight.

-- Charity Lacroix, girl, age 14

Do You Want to Know Him?
If you want to know Jesus personally, you can. It all begins when you repent and believe in Jesus.  Do you know what God's Word, the Bible says?

“Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.’” (Mar 1:14b-15).  He preached that we must repent and believe.

The Meaning of Life

 The reason that I live,
The reason I have life,
And my whole heart I give:
It’s all because of Christ.

One’s life holds much more meaning
Than time just passing by.
It’s more than you are seeing,
To just be born, then die.

For Jesus said He’s Life,
And life He gave to you.
He is Love and Light.
In Him we live brand new.

Life continues on,
Even after death.
Will you join heaven’s throng
At your final breath?

We find reality
In Christ, our gracious Lord;
For He who makes things be
 Can cut the Golden Cord.

Our time while here on earth,
Each moment of each day,
Is of such priceless worth,
Yet we give it all away

To Him who’s worth our lives,
Because He gave His own.
You’re blessed if you should die
For serving God alone.

This life is not in vain,
Some long and puzzling story.
For we were sent and came
To serve for Jesus’ glory!

The Noble Wife

Worth more than a ruby
Is a wife of noble stature.
Lacking nothing valued,
Her husband trusts in her.

She does not bring him harm
Throughout her godly life.
She works with energy.
She is a faithful wife.

She welcomes all the poor;
Those who aren’t well fed.
For her house she doesn’t fear.
They’re clothed in colored thread.

She welcomes those in need.
Idle bread she will not taste.
Her speech in filled with wisdom,
And her words don’t go to waste.

Even beauty fades.
Charm can lead astray.
A wife who fears the Lord,
She is to be praised.

When you find a wife,
A gift from God you find.
And you are surely blessed
If she’s of noble kind.

So Much More

As I look back through the years,
How strange it seems to me,
That even when I put You last,
You loved me tenderly.

But you have worked on me
And turned my heart towards You.
So now you’re not just God in church
That I pray to in a pew.

You’re not just baby Jesus,
Sent boxed up with a bow,
Or Someone who has died for us
On a cross so long ago.

You’re not just the Messiah,
Or my God that I pray to.
You’re so much more than that,
And I never really knew.

You’re the great God, Jehovah,
My dearest, kindest Friend.
So compassionate and caring.
Each wound You gently tend.

Now hand-in-hand we walk,
As You reveal to me:
It’s not enough to know
That there’s a Trinity.

It has to be a friendship,
A love story all my own,
Where I sit at Jesus’ feet,
Always before His throne.

God is in Control

King Saul's suicide

God is controlling
Your heart and your lungs;
God is controlling
Your mouth and your tongue.

God is controlling
Every part of your body,
So do not destroy it
And be very naughty.

God is controlling
Your feet and your toes;
God is controlling
Your nostrils and nose.

God is controlling
Every part of your being,
So do not destroy it
And be very mean.

The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The LORD has made both of them." (Pro 20:12)

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (Gen 1:26-27)

The battle went heavily against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was badly wounded by the archers. Then Saul said to his armor bearer, "Draw your sword and pierce me through with it, otherwise these uncircumcised will come and pierce me through and make sport of me." But his armor bearer would not, for he was greatly afraid. So Saul took his sword and fell on it. When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword and died with him. (1Sa 31:3-5)

Perfect for the King

 Perfect for the King
Is what I want to be.
Shining with the brilliance
That comes from purity.

I want my wedding gown
Perfect for the Groom.
A stainless, spotless white,
For He is coming soon.

I want my love for Him
Surpassing all the seas,
Deeper than the depths,
Just as He’s loved me.

I want my heart so pure,
Like gold deep down inside.
Perfect for the King,
His consecrated Bride.

I want my every thought
Directed towards the throne.
Heavenly and pure
And from my God alone.

I want to serve the Lord
And be an offering.
Selfless through and through,
Perfect for the King.

Bearing fruit in season,
Honoring His name
Is what I want to do.
Be found without a stain.

I want my life in line,
So on my wedding day,
All impurities
Will have been washed away.

Feeling Your Love

 Whispering gently ‘round me,
A sweet song when it found me.
Enraptured at your touch,
So soft it meant so much.

Tender in my darkest hour,
Abundant in its saving power.
Embracing me with warming arms,
Comforting in all alarm.

Washing down upon my heart,
Soothing, healing every part.
Floating softly on the wind,
Remaining still when I have sinned.

So I reach out to receive
This gift you gave to me.
O heaven, do descend.
I love my Lord, my Friend!

Ask, for it will be given
Seek, and then you shall find
Knock, the door will be open
To those troubled in heart and mind.

For all who have asked will receive
The answer to what they have prayed,
Unto the Lord God above.
Our God will not turn you away.

Going Through the Valley

As I’m going through the Valley,
It seems to stretch for miles.
For as far as I can see,
This hard and wearisome trial.

Many tears stream down my face.
I feel helpless and alone.
Walking through this lowland place,
Fatigue has gripped my bones.

It takes all the strength I possess,
This trial I must work through.
Will I ever find peace or rest?
Without God, there's nothing I can do.

Sometimes, doubt clouds my mind,
Yet I struggle to take hold of truth.
These trials will keep me in line,
So I’ll trust in the God of my youth.

-- Charity Lacroix, age 14

My daughter, Charity Lacroix says she has written this mostly for her brothers and sisters in Christ, who feel like they are going through a valley in life. It's based on a message I preached recently about our pilgrimage on earth as strangers, and this poem relates to that message.  She also wrote another related poem called, Strangers.

The Psalmist said, "How blessed is the man whose strength is in You, In whose heart are the highways to Zion! Passing through the valley of Baca they make it a spring; The early rain also covers it with blessings. They go from strength to strength, Every one of them appears before God in Zion."(Psa 84:5-7)

The Hebrew words in the sixth verse of this psalm can either be translated as, "The early rain also covers it with pools," or "The early rain also covers it with blessings."  I think that's because valleys are sometimes difficult places.  You can't see too far ahead, as you could on a mountain top.  There are shadows and sorrows, which can sometimes bring many tears.  Those tears can sometimes even become springs that cover the valley with pools.  But God collects those tears in a bottle in heaven.  He hears every cry.  And He turns those pools into blessings.

The trials that the Lord allows us to go through are for our spiritual growth and benefit.  Trust the Lord in the midst of the valley, because He has your best interests in mind.  And He is in control.  Keep your eyes on Jesus, and remember that we are not of this world.  We are strangers here on a journey toward our sacred goal, which is Zion, in the holy city, called the New Jerusalem. That's our real home!  Our names are already registered in the book there as citizens.

As we make the valley a place of springs, and the Lord turns our trials into blessings, we can rejoice!  We are going from strength to strength, until one day when we appear before the Father's throne in glory.  Until then, as we seek His presence in our lives and yearn for His courts, we will continue to be transformed from glory to glory into His image, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. (2 Cor 3:18).  We go from strength to strength and glory to glory.

Len Lacroix

Strangers

Those of us, who know the Lord,
We’re strangers while here on this earth.
We have a new life, a new heart,
The only ones of second birth.

To its pleasures we all should be dead,
Not acting as though we belong.
We’re just passing through on a trip,
And on up to God joined in song.

People do not recognize
The Light burning deep in our hearts.
We’re foreign to all fallen man,
And that’s because we’re set apart.

Don’t let this world interest you so,
The many things it has to give.
Our eyes should be set upon God.
Our lives for our Lord we should live.

When you’re in the Body of Christ,
You’re part of the big family.
Yet unto the rest of this world,
Simply a stranger you’ll be.

-- Charity Lacroix, age 14

Scriptural basis:
"All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own. And indeed if they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them." (Heb 11:13-16)

"Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul." (1Pe 2:11)

"How blessed is the man whose strength is in You, In whose heart are the highways to Zion! Passing through the valley of Baca they make it a spring; The early rain also covers it with blessings. They go from strength to strength, Every one of them appears before God in Zion."(Psa 84:5-7)

Like a Child

Jesus said to let
The little children come
And not to hinder them,
These precious little ones.

For God’s Kingdom does
Belong to such as these.
You will not enter it,
If like a child you don’t receive.

-- Charity Lacroix, age 14

The Millennium

When the Thousand Years finally comes,
The lion will lie with the lamb.
And into the viper’s nest
Will a young child put their hand.

The snake will not harm or destroy
On all God’s holy Mountain,
For the earth will be full of the knowledge
Of our Lord, bursting forth like a fountain.

Behold, God will make new heavens,
The former things won’t be recalled.
Nor will they ever come to mind.
When this happens, you might be appalled.

Jerusalem will be a delight.
Its inhabitants, such a great joy!
And he who will die at a hundred
Will be thought as merely a boy.

Before people call, God will answer.
While they are still speaking, He’ll hear.
Animals will not harm or destroy
On God’s Mountain, nobody will fear.

Bound up for a thousand years,
In chains will satan be.
No more will the nations be tricked,
Until the devil is set free.

Upon royal thrones will be seated
Those who will be given the power
And authority by God to judge.
Meanwhile, satan will cower.

The ones who bowed down to God only,
Not receiving the mark of the Beast,
Along with the Christians beheaded,
Will be reigning with Christ in peace.

Those who are blessed and holy,
Over them, no power can death gain,
But they will be priests of our Lord.
For a Millennium with Him will they reign.

-- Charity Lacroix, age 14

"Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time. Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years." (Rev 20:1-4)

"And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little boy will lead them. Also the cow and the bear will graze, Their young will lie down together, And the lion will eat straw like the ox. The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, And the weaned child will put his hand on the viper's den. They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD As the waters cover the sea." (Isa 11:6-9)

The Rider

While on the island of Patmos,
John the apostle wrote down
That he saw heaven standing open
There was a Rider of renown.

Upon a white horse did He ride.
This man is called Faithful and True.
With justice He judges the earth.
Everyday, His mercies are new.

Like fire do both His eyes blaze.
Upon His head are many crowns.
He has a name written on Him,
Our Savior by whom we were found.

He’s dressed in a robe dipped in blood.
The Word of God is His name.
Even to this very day,
He continues to stay the same.

The armies of heaven followed,
Dressed in fine linen so white.
Riding upon white horses,
With their King, they were ready to fight.

Out of the Rider’s mouth comes
A sharpened and shining sword,
With which to strike nations down,
On that glorious Day of the Lord.

With a scepter of iron, He’ll rule,
Treading the wine press of fury,
That comes from the wrath of our God.
So make your life right in a hurry.

He has a name written on Him,
On His robe and on His thigh:
“KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”
The Rider is Jesus on high.

-- Charity Lacroix, girl, age 14

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." (Rev 19:11-16)

Overflowing Blessings

If you carefully follow the Lord,
The Lord will be sure to reward.
You’ll be blessed everywhere that you go.
Your blessings will soon overflow.

All the fruit of your womb God will bless,
Your livestock more than you could guess.
Surely He’ll bless everything that you eat.
His blessing will cover you just like a sheet.

You’ll be blessed when you’re in and when you're out,
His blessing will follow you all about.
When your enemies come against you,
They’ll flee like nobody else would do.

God’s blessing will be on your barns;
He’ll bless all you do with your arms.
He’ll make you, His people, holy,
If you walk in His ways only.

Then all peoples on earth will see
God has called by name you and me.
Though many will ask you to lend,
Their money you yourself will not spend.

You will be the head and not the tail,
For God’s good promises never fail.
So don’t stray from what He commands.
‘Cause you know you’ll be in His hands.

-- Hope Lacroix, age 12

Adapted from Deuteronomy 2:1-12, which begins with the following verses:

"If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God." (Deuteronomy 28:1-2 NIV, 1984)

America, Turn Back to God

O Israel, turn back to God
He will not let you disobey.
O America, turn back to God
He will not let you disobey.

O, land of the free,
Why won’t you turn back to Me?
Repent with true contrition
And I will answer your petition.

Why is it Me you forsake?
Desert your idols and awake!
For I come like a thief in the night.
When will you make your life right?

You used to listen and obey,
But you’ve turned back to wicked ways.
When will you return to Me,
With repentance on your hands and knees?

I will love each of you for all time.
Come home, My child, and be mine!
You’ve waited too long as of yet.
On whom will your whole heart be set?

Your sins are a stench to smell.
Escape from the fires of hell!
I am jealous for your soul,
Yet your heart remains hard and cold.

How great are all of your sins!
I am so saddened within!
And I’m bringing this world to an end.
Surely, judgment will I send.

O Judah, my chosen ones,
Will you continue to run?
To each and every Jew:
You’re precious and I do love you!

This is My message to all.
This could be your final call.
Think about what I have said,
How deep into sin you’ve been led.

O Judah, turn back to God.
He will not let you disobey.
O America, turn back to God.
He will not let you disobey.

-- Charity Lacroix, age 14

When my daughter was six years old, she once sang a song in our van from her Singing Bible. It went like this: "O Judah, turn back to God. He will not let you disobey." Then she began to ad-lib prophetically, and sang, "O America, turn back to God. He will not let you disobey." So when I rediscovered that today, I asked her if she could expand on that with a poem about it. The poem above is what the Lord gave her.

On April 6, 2013, about two and a half months after my daughter wrote this poem, we both read the following prophecy together in Dumitru Duduman's book, Dreams and Visions, in which the Lord said in 1992: "The sin of the great whore has spread throughout the world.  The stench of her sin has reached me and it will not be long until I will raise the whole Arab world, the Russians and other countries against her, that they may destroy her."  We marveled how these were the very same words she wrote in her poem, even though we never heard this prophecy before.

Please share this poem with a fellow American whom you care about.

Scriptural basis:
"And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God." (Luk 1:16 NASB)

"We are also men of the same nature as you, and preach the gospel to you that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them." (Act 14:15b NASB)

"...to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me." (Act 26:18 NASB)

"[Paul] kept declaring both to those of Damascus first, and also at Jerusalem and then throughout all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds appropriate to repentance." (Act 26:20 NASB)

"...unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." (Luk 13:5 NASB)

"[If] My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2Ch 7:14 NASB)

Creator We Love

 Jesus is Lord above
Almighty God is He
Creator we love.
We are His sheep.

We shall not be afraid
Of the demons or dark;
He by Whom all was created
Lives within our heart.

So we love Him;
The One up in the sky,
Who fills our hearts within.
We’re the apple of His eye.

He loves you, too!
Lord and King is He
New Life He has for you
Come over and see!

-- Charity Lacroix, age 4 (revised by Daddy)

My daughter, Charity Lacroix, who is now age 23, has written most of the poems on this site. At age four, she would sing songs that she had made up on her own.  One of them was this one (above), which I've titled “Creator We Love.” I rediscovered it in my notes, and liked it.  So I decided to revise it and publish it.  Obviously I took great liberty in my revisions, but the Lord was the one who inspired her with it.  Some of the original words were:

"Jesus is the Lord of all Creation. He is God. We are His sheep, and He is the Lord.  We are not gonna be afraid of the dark.  Creator we love.   We have Jesus in our heart,  so we love Him.  He is in our heart.   Up in the sky, He loves you, He loves you.  Come over and see."  Charity would still like you to come over and see how wonderful new life in Christ really is.

Scriptural basis:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. (Joh 1:1-3 NASB)

For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.  (Col 1:16-17 NASB)

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.  (Joh 3:16 NASB)

For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.   (Psa 95:7a NASB)
